A student unable to attend class for any reason must call the school office before theory class begins. An excused absence is one that is due to illness, death in the immediate family, or any other unavoidable circumstance. The school must be notified of the reason for said absence within 24 hours. Any absence beyond three (3) days must be supported with documentary evidence or said absence will be recorded as an unexcused. Whether the absence is excusable or inexcusable, students are still required to make-up lessons and exams missed. However, make-up work will not be considered if not physically performed within the premises. The instructor in charge will review excessive tardiness or absences with the student to determine possible corrective action to the issue on hand. Students are responsible for clocking in when they arrive at school and clocking out when they leave. Once theory class has begun, students who arrive late will not be allowed to enter the classroom. Tardy students must stay outside of the classroom in the client waiting area until theory class is over.
If a student is absent for more than 30 consecutive days, the school will assume that the student has withdrawn, unless a signed Leave of Absence (LOA) is approved. A student who is absent for more than 30 consecutive days without completing a Leave of Absence form, and fails to contact the school, will be terminated. A request for Leave of Absence form must be filled out before the start date of LOA. A LOA cannot exceed 60 consecutive days during any 12 months period.
The school monitors attendance at least once a month to determine unofficial withdrawals. All students are required to complete the course of study within 150% of the period of time stated in the enrollment agreement.
